What is john smith (architect)?

John Smith is a British architect who was born in 1957 in Sheffield, England. He attended the University of Sheffield and then the Architectural Association in London before founding his own architectural firm, John McAslan + Partners, in 1996.

Smith's firm is known for its work on transportation projects, such as revitalizing the King's Cross railway station in London, as well as cultural and community projects. In 2012, the firm won the Royal Institute of British Architects' Stirling Prize for its design of the Olympic Energy Centre in London.

Smith has also been involved in teaching and has served as a visiting professor at several universities, including Columbia University in New York and the University of Cambridge in the UK. He was awarded an OBE in 2013 for his services to architecture and design.
